The Department of Paediatric Medicine and the Department of Paediatric Nursing conducted the World Immunization Week 2026
World Immunization Week 2026 | 24th–30th April
The Department of Paediatric Medicine, in collaboration with the Department of Paediatric Nursing at SRMC & RI, observed World Immunization Week 2026 under the theme “For Every Generation, Vaccines Work.”
The week-long observance commenced with an inauguration ceremony graced by public health experts Dr. K. Vinay Kumar (Additional Director) and Dr. Baranidhran (Joint Director) from the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. This was followed by an insightful panel discussion addressing special clinical scenarios in childhood vaccination.
To foster academic excellence, vaccination-themed quizzes were conducted for undergraduate and postgraduate students from both the Paediatric and Nursing departments. The initiative extended beyond the hospital through community outreach at the G Block, Medical Centre OPDs, and the RHTC in Vayalanallur. Parents participated in guidance sessions focused on making safe, informed immunization choices.
Nursing students presented innovative awareness charts, while faculty led academic sessions on immunization principles, schedules, the cold chain, and parent counseling. Throughout the campus, FAQ displays served as a constant resource for visitors. Together, we continue to advocate for a healthier future—because vaccines protect every generation!
