Microbial Genomics Lab

We are currently working on genomics and the molecular aspects of antimicrobial resistant determinants of
multi-drug resistant Escherichia coli, along with surveillance efforts from a
One Health perspective under SDG14 and SDG3,
spanning across both environmental and clinical settings.

Our research also involves functional metagenomics analysis of microbial communities.

We are the first to report several sequence types (STs), such as:

  • ST410 from urinary tract infections (UTI)
  • ST361 and ST69 from wetlands in India
  • Several other novel ST types identified in our lab

We have also explored the secondary metabolites of Bacillus subtilis
using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies.

With our strong field expertise and well-trained research personnel, our lab’s work significantly contributes to
combating the global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) challenge.
