Centre for Early Childhood Caries Research (CECCRe)

We focus on understanding the Early Childhood Caries (ECC) disease process at both the population and individual levels
by investigating host factors such as enamel characteristics, soft tissue features of the oral cavity, morphological features
of the tooth, and more.

Key Contributions:

  1. Proposed the OXIS Classification – the first classification of interproximal contacts.
  2. Introduced a novel concept called Sustained Anticipatory Guidance (SAG) to prevent Early Childhood Caries.
  3. Developed MAAC Charts – a novel tool to educate stakeholders (parents, healthcare providers, dentists, etc.)
    for early diagnosis of ECC.
