SRESHT Lab

The SRESHT Lab focuses on translational research that enables the meaningful integration of technology—particularly tele-practice—to improve access to early identification and intervention services for children with speech, language, and hearing disorders in rural and semi-urban communities.

The lab is conceptualized and led by Dr. Vidya Ramkumar, an India Alliance Intermediate Fellow in Clinical and Public Health Research, and Professor at the Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, SRIHER (Deemed University), Chennai.

In India and other low- and middle-income countries, the geographical distribution and availability of speech-language therapy and audiology services remain skewed. As a result, the needs of large populations in remote rural and semi-urban areas continue to go unmet.

To address this disparity, the lab’s projects and implementation initiatives are designed to explore alternative models of service delivery, collaborating with on-field partners to bridge these critical service gaps.
