Dr. Anita David is an accomplished academic and professional in the field of Paediatric nursing, with a career spanning over two and a half decades. She began her academic journey by completing her undergraduate studies in 1996 at The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, a well-respected institution known for its contributions to medical education and research. Her pursuit of higher education continued with a Postgraduate degree in 2001, followed by a PhD in 2013 from Sri Ramachandra University, another prestigious university recognized for its focus on health sciences and research excellence. She completed her postgraduate diploma in yoga & Naturopathy in the year 2008
Currently, Dr Anita David holds the position of Professor and Head of the Department (HOD) in the Department of Paediatric Nursing at the Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Nursing. In this role, she oversees and manages both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs, specializing in Child Health Nursing. Her responsibilities include not only teaching but also mentoring students and guiding Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD candidates.
Dr. Anita David actively participates in and executes delegated tasks in her profession. She is a member of the Board of Studies at SRIHER(DU) and also at other University, the Nursing Education Unit, the Faculty Quality Cell and works for IQAC criteria-VI, and serves as the Safety and Utility Secretary for the Faculty of Nursing. Additionally, she is a member of the Research Committee.
With 26 years of teaching experience, Dr. David has honed her skills in educating and mentoring students. She has played a significant role in organizing and participating in numerous national and international conferences, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and webinars. Notably, she visited the University of Washington, USA, in 2014 and presented a research paper at a conference there.
Dr. Anita David has been recognized as a senior instructor in the Basic Newborn Care and Resuscitation Program(BNCRP) by the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) since 2012 in Tamil Nadu. This program is essential for training healthcare providers in reducing neonatal mortality and morbidity.
In addition to her work with the IAP, Dr. Anita David has also been a senior mentor for COVID-19 management and training for nursing personnel since 2019 in Salem and Chennai, Tamil Nadu as recognized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This role became particularly significant during the COVID-19 pandemic, where effective training and management were crucial in handling the crisis.
In 2022, she underwent the TOT-Training Program “Promoting Excellence in Palliative Care Nursing,” organized by the Indian Association of Palliative Welfare and the Indian Nursing Council. She served as a resource person in numerous conferences, workshops, webinars, and seminars across various institutions and was also involved in a Faculty Development Programme. Interdepartmental Organization of programs too.
Throughout her career, Dr. Anita David has actively contributed to the academic community through research and publication. She has published 26 papers in indexed journals. student guideship in INNOVUS 2021, which received first prize for health-guided innovative footwear technology. She played a crucial role as an examiner and question paper setter at several private and government universities across India.
