Dr.Priscilla Johnson is a basic medical scientist who obtained her training as a medical physiologist at the Madras Medical College, Chennai. Being a Professor of Physiology, in addition to the academic teaching, she is involved in administration of medical college related activities as an Associate Dean. She works in the field of Environmental Health. As a medical physiologist, she used to ponder on the structural and functional peculiarities of every organ in our body, the amazing way the lungs tackle the different environmental pollutants while breathing. This directed her focus towards air pollution related respiratory health outcomes and she ended up pursuing doctorate in this field. She has been a part of the research team which is involved in air pollution related research, heat stress and sleep related research serving as a co-investigator in few national and international extra-mural research projects and her areas of expertise include respiratory physiology, environmental epidemiology, thermal physiology and scientific writing. Besides, she has a passion towards the research among women & children and she looks forward for improvement in their health with involvement of the community and social empowerment of the downtrodden.

Awarded Book Authorship Award for being the editor of SAE of Ross and Wilson Textbook of Applied Anatomy and Physiology for nursing by SRIHER in September 2023.
Awarded Distinguished Activity Award for the best outreach activity in 2020 & 2021 by World Sleep Society
Awarded the “Research Ambassador” award in appreciation of the continued research contributions of international standards in the inaugural function of the Indo-US Fulbright program on Research Capacity building by Dr Caven McLoughlin – Phase II on 27th February,2017
