Bio

Prof. Dr. Radha Annamalai is an ophthalmologist with specialization in Uveitis, Ocular Inflammation, Retinopathy of prematurity and with expertise in General Ophthalmology.
She has completed training in Uveitis and Medical Retina in Birmingham and in Belfast, UK, she has done a fellowship in Retinopathy of Prematurity. Currently she is practicing general ophthalmology, uveitis and ocular inflammation, and performs ocular investigations, laser procedures and cataract surgeries.

She has completed her medical training, postgraduation in ophthalmology and a Ph.D. in Uveitis and was the first to describe the usefulness of real time PCR in ocular fluids in TB. She has completed MRCS(Ed), ICO advanced, clinical and basic sciences examinations.
She has mentored about 120 ophthalmology students and has been involved in teaching, clinical education, research supervision and surgical training. She has 60 publications in peer reviewed journals and has 5 chapters in books in ophthalmology. She is a reviewer for the Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International, International Ophthalmology and Clinical Ophthalmology.
She has received 9 awards including, ‘Young woman achiever award, ‘Young Faulty Research Award and best clinical papers. She has presented over 100 papers in national and international conferences and has been an invited speaker at various forums.
She is the Chief Clinical Safety Officer for the University, Chairperson of Grievance Committee, member of Operation Room Regulations Committee, Ethics Committee and Board of Studies and Academic Council.
She is involved in visual rehabilitation of children, Community Ophthalmology, rural health camps, childhood blindness schemes, part of multidisciplinary team for needs of special children and with infection and leprosy eradication program for centers in and around Chennai.
Currently she is the Head of Department of Ophthalmology and Head of Clinical Services at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai.

A multicentric, double blinded, randomized, active control, parallel group comparative study to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of Brinzolamide 1% w/v plus Brimonidine Tartarate 0.2% w/v Ophthalmic suspension Vs Brinzolamide 1% eye drops in patients with open angle glaucoma or Ocular Hypertension

As Principal Investigator completed in 2016 a project titled:
