Bio

I received both a Master’s degree and Ph.D in Human Genetics from the Department of Human Genetics, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. My thesis was a study on transcription factors TBX1, NKX2.5 and folate metabolism genes in conotruncal heart defects. After a 2-year stint at the department of Medical Genetics in Manipal Hospital (Bengaluru), I joined the faculty of the department of Human Genetics in 2004. I have 20 years of teaching and research experience in the area of Human Genetics and Genomics, relevant to health and disease. Apart from my undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, I continue to be active in the genetic and genomic diagnostic and counseling services of the department. My wide range of interests covers many areas of human genetics including genetic testing, leukemia cytogenetics, genetic counseling, cardiovascular genetics, paediatric genetics, genetics of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders and reproductive genetics. In addition. I am interested in developing research projects from the clinical perspective across a variety of prenatal, paediatric and adult conditions.
