Dr. M. Anitharani is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Community Medicine at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute in Chennai, where she has contributed for over 15 years. She earned her M.B.B.S. from Thanjavur Medical College affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai in 2000. Subsequently, she completed her M.D. in Community Medicine from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Porur, Chennai in June 2005.
Dr. Anitharani’s primary areas of expertise lie in Research Methodology and Biostatistics. She has secured funding for her projects from prestigious organizations such as THE UNION, Paris, and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Notably, her research on Malaria received a substantial grant of Rs 66 lakhs as part of a national task force project under ICMR.
She has authored fifty-two publications in renowned national and international journals. Her academic pursuits focus on teaching Community Medicine, Biostatistics, and Research Methodology to medical and paramedical students, emphasizing a practical approach. Dr. Anitharani has been actively involved as a resource person in Research Methodology workshops conducted within and outside her university for more than 15 years.
Her research interests primarily revolve around the prevention of non-communicable diseases in the community and the advocacy of healthy lifestyle practices. Dr. Anitharani’s dedication to advancing medical education and research underscores her commitment to public health and community well-being.
