He completed his under graduation from Chengalpattu Medical College and completed his post graduation in Community Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical sciences, New Delhi in 2005, and since then has been working in this institute. He is actively involved in teaching undergraduate and post graduate students of Community Medicine. Has also served as a WHO-trained consultant in the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program for seven months in 2007 . He is a resource person for the training programs on Research methodology for post graduates and PhD candidates. He is also a member of Institutional Ethics Committee of SRIHER and involved in Research Ethics Education
He is the Principal investigator for MINErVA-TN chapter. MINErVA is a network of academic institutions with AIIMS New Delhi as the Nodal Centre. The network is in partnership with the ORGI (Office of the Registrar General of India), Government of India to ascertain the cause of death by Verbal autopsy through SRS supervisors. The network carry regular training of the supervisors of the SRS and also conduct field verification of the data .The trained supervisors visit select households where death has occurred and they administer a standard sequence of questions followed by making a narrative based on the sequence of event just before death. This information is electronically stored and accessed by trained physicians of the network through a dedicated online platform and the likely cause of death is ascertained. The cause of deaths are analysed and shared in public domain through the ORGI.
