Dr. Shanthi is the Professor and Head of Microbiology. She is also the Academic Convener of the Department of Medical Education. An alumnus of SRMC & RI, she is a competent Medical Microbiologist with MD and PhD in Clinical Microbiology. She is a dedicated medical faculty member with 20 years of teaching experience at SRMC & RI.
Dr. M. Shanthi has a strong academic background with professional experience in microbiology and medical education. Her educational journey, from undergraduate to PhD, reflects her commitment to research and academic excellence. She has made significant contributions to her field through research, teaching, and collaboration with colleagues. Her PhD work was on carbapenem resistance mechanisms. Presently, her research focus is on antimicrobial resistance and medical education.
She has contributed to health care as a senior consultant in clinical microbiology and as a committed member of the infection control committee. She has made immense contributions to the accreditation of the laboratory and the hospital. She is an able researcher and is guiding several MD students and PhD scholars.
