Dr. Dawson Gladys Prathiba, PhD (Audiology), is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (DU) Chennai, India. She has completed her undergraduate and post-graduation program in Speech and Hearing from SRIHER. Prathiba has more than 18 years of clinical experience, teaching and research. Her area of interests is implantable devices and rehabilitative audiology. Dr. Prathiba Dawson has been trained in advanced cochlear implant program and rehabilitation by MED-EL Headquarters, Innsbruck, Austria. She had also received advanced training in cochlear implant technology in Cochlear Pvt Ltd, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Dr. Prathiba has presented many research papers in several national and international conferences. She is the recipient of the GATE- YOUNG FACULTY RESEARCH GRANT award for the study titled “Testing the technical viability of remote technology in intra operative audiological testing for cochlear implant surgery”. She has also published research papers in indexed and peer reviewed journals. She has been involved in streamlining the habilitation program for children with cochlear Implants at the Faculty of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. She has developed various clinical material in Tamil for the assessment of children with cochlear implants as part of the dissertations and small projects.
Dr. Prathiba is an active member in Sri Ramachandra speech and Hearing alumni association and served as a Secretary and EC member for the same. She is also a life member for Indian Speech and Hearing association, Tamilnadu Chapter (TANISHA), Indian Speech and Hearing association (ISHA) and the Cochlear Implant Group of India (CIGI).
