Bio

Dr. R. Poongodi currently serves as Assoc. Prof at the Dept. of Community Health Nursing, Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Nursing, SRIHER(DU). She pursued her Ph.D from SRIHER(DU). Since 2008 she has been working at SRIHER(DU) in various positions. She has nearly 20 years of experience in teaching, clinical, fieldwork, and research domains. Teaching experience covers various programs in Nursing and Allied Health Sciences; Ph.D. nursing, M.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Nursing, Post-Basic Nursing, and GNM. She has led many health awareness programs for under-served communities and participated Govt. National Health Programs. The Ph.D work was in foot reflex therapy on post operative pain management in due course has completed in foot reflexology and Acupressure therapy.She  is currently guiding UG, PG  projects  and  Ph.D students and developed video module on Breast Self Examination.She serves as a visiting professors at  the Department of Community Health Nursing, Saveetha College of Nursing, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Thandalam.

Projects

Effectiveness of Foot Reflex Therapy in Post-Operative Pain among Patients Subjected to Major Abdominal Surgery at selected hospital.

This study received travel grant of Rs.75,000 from Western Institute of Nursing to present the paper during 50th Annual Communicating Nursing Research Conference, 17th to 19th April,2017.

Received Chancellor young fellowship award in 2019.Project titled “Impact of Mobile Phone Mediated Mindfulness Intervention  on  Mental Health, Psychological Resilience  and Metabolic Control  Indicators among Patients with Type-II Diabetes Mellitus  and Compromised   Wellbeing ,   during Covid-19 Pandemic”.
