L. Vidhya, Assistant Professor of English, is a passionate and dedicated English teacher serving the education field for over 16 years. She is highly concerned about teaching second language learners which made her pursue TESOL (Teaching of English to Second Language Learners) to adapt to the learning styles of the second language learners. She as a good learner participates in varied professional enhancement programmes and does not shop with learning but tries to impart the same to the student community. She concentrates on teaching the Paramedical students through specific needs binding the ESP (English for Specific Purposes) and EMP (English for Medical Purposes) structured syllabus. She is a doctoral researcher and her research expertise on ELT has made her focus on the psychological factors and their influence in the acquisition of English as a Second Language. She keeps updating herself to meet the challenges of the fast-growing technology-oriented education field. She has authoured few chapters with reputed publishers and published papers related to her research area. She has contributed to the development of courses for the university to fulfill the English teaching with specific oriented needs. She has organised and conducted workshops and training sessions for both the students and the staff community of the university. Besides, she has remarkable editing skills which permit her to provide excellent support to edit the manuscripts, project works, and dissertation works of the students and faculty members of the university.
Initiated ‘VOICES’ (Volunteers Outreach Initiative in Creative English for Rural Students) a continuous community outreach Spoken English programme to cater the government school children of the adopted villages of NSS,SRIHER (DU) for which she was recognised and appreciated with an appreciation letter from the Pro- Vice-Chancellor and the Programme Coordinator, NSS, for the dedicated contribution towards NSS unit of SRIHER(DU).
Vidhya Lokesh is an active member of ELTAI. The association helps her to connect with English educators dedicated to enhancing teaching and learning practices. This professional body extends research opportunities, utilise resources, attend conferences and access journals that focus on new approaches to language teaching.
