Mrs.Geetha Poomalai M.Sc .Nursing is an enthusiastic person with 2 decades of successful experience in the field of Nursing profession. Geetha holds an M.Sc in Nursing (Medical and Surgical Nursing) from M.A. Chidambaram College of Nursing, Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. University, Adayar, Chennai an M.Sc in Psychology from Madras University, Chennai and she was a gold medalist and the best outgoing student of B.Sc in Nursing (Trained Nurse’s) from Rani Meyyammai College of Nursing, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. In her professional experience, Geetha worked as a Staff Nurse at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai , had been trained and certified in critical care nursing by RMIT University, Australia. She proceeded as a Tutor in Nursing at M.A. Chidambaram School of Nursing and currently serves as a Lecturer at Faculty of Nursing, SRIHER since September 2008. She has expertise in the field of Nursing Foundation and Medical surgical nursing guiding students with various research projects related to nursing fields. She had contributed for the OSCE/OSPE Bank compilation for Nursing foundation by Tamilnadu Nurses and Midwives council. Her interest and knowledge quench has been enhanced by several online certification courses in Coursera, NPTEL, Swayam/ICMR in the field of Nursing practice, Education and Research. Geetha has been recognized for her dedicated work and continuous 10 Years tenure at SRIHER and had received the Best Research Paper Award in ICNSH 2021. Had received Young Faculty Research grant for GATE research project in2018. She had been served as resource Person for Skillathon training organized by Infusion Nurses Society – India. She continues to make significant contributions to the nursing community through her research and expertise, presented about 20 research papers at various National and International conferences and had published around 8 articles and by serving as a member of Nursing Associations. She provides constant support to student in professional and personal growth by means of guidance in innovative research projects and encouragement towards all co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Shows more responsible to the assigned roles of various committees at SRFON and SRIHER .
Stroke is a global health problem. Hemianopia is common among post stroke survivors and the recovery of vision is found to be effective within 6 months of stroke. Rehabilitation with visual compensatory strategies for improving visual acuity by means of smooth saccadic and pursuit training and stimulation of vestibula ocular reflexes enhances functional ability of the patient to perform the activities of daily living independently and thereby improves their quality of life.
The research topic was sanctioned Rs.85,000 funding under “GATE- Young Faculty Research Grant” for the year 2018 –19 by Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research,Chennai.
