Nalini Somasunadaram has been an active nurse educator and has extensive experience in nursing practice and education since 2000. Her nursing journey began with obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, which served as a strong foundation for her career. She earned her Master’s degree in Nursing (MSc. Nursing) by pursuing further education and specializing in Psychiatric Nursing. The advanced training gave her the expertise to pursue both clinical practice and educational roles.
She has handled various courses such as Mental Health Nursing, Introduction to Nursing Administration, Introduction to Nursing Research & Statistics, Psychiatric Nursing, Clinical Speciality – I & II, Advanced Nursing Practice and Principles of Nursing.
She has actively participated in several programs such as Mental Health Self-care training workshops organized by the Tamilnadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai, and Simulation in Nursing Education. She has undergone training in Basic course and Intermediate level course in Blended learning for health care Educators at SRIHER.
She has attended and presented papers at various national and international nursing conferences and participated in Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Nursing Education programs. She has worked as a research consultant to validate tools and protocols and reviewed the book, Bhatia and Craig`s Elements of Psychology and Mental Hygiene for Nurses in India in 2020.
She has guided many dissertations and projects, supporting students in their research endeavors. Her expertise has been recognized through appointments as an external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programs to ensure the rigor and quality of nursing education.
She has been an active member in various committee members such as Nursing Education Unit, College council, Admission committee member, Simulation committee and LMS committee
