Bio

A distinguished pharmacologist and academician with over a decade of robust experience in teaching and research. Served as the Assistant Dean (Students) since July 2019 and the NCC Coordinator since September 2022. Has authored over 60 research publications and holds an average Impact Factor of 3.2 & h-index of 17, reflecting extensive contributions to scientific literature. Primary research focus is neuropharmacology, anticancer activity of medicinal plants, and pharmacological evaluations using in-silico, in-vitro, and in-vivo methodologies. Has involved in numerous funded research projects. Notable among them is the Career Award for Young Teachers (CAYT) from AICTE, New Delhi funded with INR 2,50,000. Dr. Srikanth’s excellence has been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the APJ Abdul Kalam Young Scientist Award 2015, the ICLAS – CALAS Scholarship Award for Young Investigator in Laboratory Animal Sciences 2019, and the AICTE-Visvesvaraya Best Teachers Award 2021. Actively involved in committees such as the Academic Council, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, SDG & E-Governance Committee. International exposure includes visits to the USA, UAE, Malaysia and China, presenting his research at various esteemed conferences. Has guided numerous undergraduate, postgraduate & Ph.D students through their research projects.

Career Award for Young Techers from AICTE, New Delhi (2015 - 2018)

The AICTE Career Award for Young Teachers (CAYT) is a prestigious recognition aimed at fostering innovation and research among young academicians. Mr. Srikanth Jeyabalan was honored with this award for his project, *“Pharmacological and Toxicological Evaluation of Indian Noni (Morinda citrifolia) in Animal Models of Psychiatric Disorders.”* The award, valued at Rs. 2,50,000, is spread over a period of three years, supporting the awardee’s research efforts while balancing a teaching load of up to 10 hours per week. This award underscores the importance of nurturing young researchers by providing financial support, access to resources, and institutional privileges. The grant aids in acquiring essential research materials such as equipment, books, and journals, enabling impactful contributions to science and education. Furthermore, it encourages professional growth by allowing recipients to maintain their academic roles, ensuring a balance between research and teaching, all while advancing their expertise in their chosen field.

INTI International University Seed Grant Project 2024

Dr. Srikanth Jeyabalan is a key co-researcher in a significant research project funded by INTI International University through the INTI Seed Grant 2024. The project, “Determination of potential drug targets in Curcuma aromatica against Cutibacterium biofilms,” has been allocated RM 35,629 (Malaysian Ringgit), which is approximately ₹6,30,000 (Indian Rupees), without any teaching load reduction. This 18-month project not only advances important drug research but also highlights Dr. Srikanth’s involvement in international collaborations. By contributing his expertise from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (DU), India, alongside researchers from Malaysia and Poland, Dr. Srikanth is enhancing his profile in pharmacological research. His participation showcases the global relevance of his work, while the funding emphasizes the project’s impact and scope.

Dr. J. Srikanth, from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, was honored with the prestigious ICLAS-CALAS International Young Investigator Award during the 15th Academic Conference on Laboratory Animal Science of China held at Kunming, China in 2019 . This award, given by the International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS) and the Chinese Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences (CALAS), recognizes outstanding contributions in laboratory animal science. Dr. Srikanth’s recognition comes from his significant work in advancing research methodologies and improving ethical standards in the use of laboratory animals. Along with other international awardees from Korea, Brazil, the Philippines, and China, Dr. Srikanth’s contributions highlight the global impact of his research. The award celebrates young investigators who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and innovation in animal science, contributing to global scientific advancements while promoting humane and responsible animal use in research. Dr. J. Srikanth is presenelty working as Associate professor at Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Pharmacy, Assistant Dean (Students) & Innovation Ambassador at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research (DU). He is a first generation graduate with more than a decade of teaching & research experience. He has received Career award for Young Teachers (CAYT) from AICTE in the year 2015 & ICLAS – CALAS scholarship award for young Investigators in Laboratory Animal sciences at The 15th Scientific Conference of
Chinese Association for Laboratory Animal Science in 2019. He served as an active National Entrepreneurship Network member, NSS program officer & NCC in-charge of the college & University. He has motivated students for social entrepreneurship and community related activities. He actively participated in various initiatives undertaken by AICTE like AICTE-CII India Innovation Initiative, clean & smart Campus, executing One
Student One Tree plantation drive & creating open defecation free in adopted villages.
Dr. J. Srikanth translated a NPETL swayam online course into his native language (Tamil). He has served and participated as resource person in various AICTE initiative program. He is conferred as the Secretary of Social Enterprenurship Swachhtha & Rural Engagement (SESREC) of the University to carry out community service related activities as well as Secretary of SDG Committee to work towards sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
