As an accomplished Anaesthesiologist with a distinguished tenure in the hospital and healthcare domain, I possess a comprehensive skill set covering diverse critical areas. My expertise spans Anaesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Acute Medical Care, Pain Management, Medical Education, Medical simulation and Healthcare Management. I am a detail oriented anesthesiologist, skilful in high risk complex anaesthetic procedures, calmful at stressful situations and warm and caring to ease patient’s anxiety. As a highly specialized perioperative physician, I am focused on developing individualized anesthesia plan to have the best perioperative outcome for every patient. My practice extends to specialized areas such as difficult airway management, anesthesia for high-risk patients, high-risk obstetric anesthesia care and perioperative management of critically ill patients.
My academic journey includes the attainment of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Anaesthesiology from Grant Medical College & Sir JJ Group Of Hospitals, Mumbai affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, after graduating M.B.BS., from KAPV Govt Medical College, Tiruchirappalli, affiliated to TN MGR Medical university, Tamilnadu. I have been awarded the Vishwanath Chaphalkar award for the best outgoing student in Anesthesia in 2009 by Professor Sandhya Khond, Department of Anaesthesia and critical care, Grant Medical College, Mumbai. In recognition for the services rendered during the November 2008 terrorists attack in Mumbai, I was appreciated and recognised by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the then President of India, for the ‘highest ideals of medical professionalism and humanitarianism by committing to serve others in times of crisis and setting an example of unwavering compassion and resilience in the face of adversity’.
Additionally in my academic journey, I have pursued specialized fellowships, notably in Pain Management from Daradia Pain Clinic, Kolkata, and in Simulation from Hull Institute of Learning & Simulation (HILS), UK. Further enriching my qualifications, I have undergone Simulation Training from the esteemed Center for Medical Simulation, Boston, USA. To further refine my simulation journey, I have undergone the feedback course from Center for Medical Simulation, USA and Master Debriefer from The Debriefing academy, Canada. I am a master trainer certified in ‘communication skills for healthcare’ by Indian Institute of Healthcare Communication. I have undergone effective training to be a part of Research Ethics Committee from St. John’s Medical College & Research Institute, Bengaluru, to understand the nuances of ethical research in clinical practice. I believe these qualifications will facilitate my professional journey as a clinician, academician, researcher and a lifelong learner to enhance the healthcare quality I deliver to my patients. Also I believe these skills will help me facilitate learning among my post-graduate learners with necessary expertise, adaptability, creativity, empathy and patience for their continuous improvement.
Motivated by an unwavering commitment to medical education, particularly among adult post-graduate learners specializing in anesthesia, I am dedicated to nurturing their growth and expertise. By amalgamating medical education, inter-professional education and crisis management skills, I strive to cultivate a work culture with a dynamic learning environment that not only enhances my own understanding but also empowers these learners to excel. As an astute anesthesiologist, I am deeply engaged in postgraduate teaching with a primary emphasis on patient safety, skilled anesthetic management across all major surgeries, and research exploration in difficult airway, obstetric anesthesia, ultrasound in perioperative care, regional anesthesia and pain medicine and medical simulation. I am a lifelong learner curious to learn and facilitate learning. I have 8 indexed publications and written a chapter in yearbook of anaesthesiology. I enjoy my commitment to knowledge exchange and capacity building by addressing conferences and CME programs and facilitating national and international workshops in anaesthesia and simulation which enhances collaboration with peers around the world that will promote scholarly dissemination and enhances the skills of learners. I am conferred memberships of various simulation societies to facilitate adult learning through simulation. As a visiting professor in simulation at Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research, Sawangi – Wardha, I collaborate with simulation experts across the country to promote learning through simulation in Anesthesia and Healthcare.
