Dr. Aishwarya Nallamuthu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech Language Pathology at the Faculty of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology, SRIHER (DU), Chennai, India. Additionally, she serves as a Consultant Speech Language Pathologist at the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, Chennai. Her educational journey showcases her unwavering dedication to academic excellence. She completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) in 2008 from Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai. She pursued her post-graduation and obtained a Master’s degree in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (MASLP) from the same institution in 2010. Her exceptional academic performance earned her the prestigious Prof. Roopa Nagarajan Endowment Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in MASLP. She further pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Psychology from the University of Madras in 2012. She earned her Ph.D. in Speech Language Pathology in 2023 from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. Her doctoral research focussed on optimising vocal health and vocal habilitation in professional voice users specifically teachers.
Her commitment to professional career has earned her the ’10 Years Continuous Service Medallion’ from the Chancellor of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research in 2021. With over 14 years of experience in the field, her primary area of expertise lies in voice and its disorders. She has made significant contributions through her clinical practice, teaching and research activities, where she offers tailored assessment and evidence-based intervention strategies. Her research work has been recognised and honoured with the ‘Dayalan Samuel Award’ and ‘Dr. Muktesh Award‘ at the Annual Conference of Indian Speech & Hearing Association (ISHACON). In 2023, she was recognised for the extramural research grant from Transforming Faces, Canada, for the project “Community-Based Model of Comprehensive Cleft Care – Phase 6,” valued at ₹39.875 lakhs. She has also demonstrated commitment to advancing the scientific knowledge through her publications in esteemed peer-reviewed journals.
She is an active member of various professional associations including the Indian Speech and Hearing Association, Tamil Nadu chapter of Indian Speech and Hearing Association (TAN-ISHA), Indian Voice Association and Sri Ramachandra Speech and Hearing Alumni Association. She is a member of the Safety and Utility Control Sub-Committee (since August 2015) and the Institution Innovation Council (since January 2024) at her university.
