Dr. R. Ponniah Iyyappan is a distinguished senior consultant and associate professor of General Surgery, currently serving at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre and SRIHER, respectively. With a robust academic foundation, he holds an M.S. in General Surgery, along with multiple fellowships including FACS, FICS, FIAGES, FMAS, and FALS.
Dr. Iyyappan has been pivotal in groundbreaking research, notably contributing as a clinical collaborator in the qualitative assessment of beta cell islet differentiation from adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells between 2015 and 2017. Additionally, he has investigated the novel markers and cardiac differentiation potential of mesenchymal stem cells derived from human oral and adipose tissue.
His scholarly contributions are extensive, with numerous publications in high-impact journals such as the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Journal, Surgery Open Access Journal, and International Journal of Medicine Research. His research spans diverse topics, from hepatic haemangiomas and malignant phyllodes tumors to diabetic foot ulcers and breast cancer markers.

He also plays a key role in the Creative Editor Committee for Transdisciplinary Research Innovation and Disease Mitigation & Education, and is a member of the TANSAM and Website Updation Committees at SRIHER.
