I, Mrs. Jayachelvi Babu obtained masters degree in Industrial Hygiene and Safety from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research (SRIHER-DU) , Chennai and pursuing doctoral degree (PhD) in Environmental Toxicology from SRIHER-DU. I have been serving in Sri Ramachandra Institute since March 1995, Currently I am working as Senior Lecturer. Prior to this position, I was working as clinical technologist in  Department of Microbiology, SRIHER-DU till September 2008 in the areas of bacteriology, Virology. The division I represent at Department of Environmental Health Engineering, Faculty of Public Health deals on Occupational & Environmental Health (air & water pollution). My specialization include Industrial Hygiene, Indoor and ambient environmental monitoring, exposure assessment and health risk assessment including climate change and health impacts.

As faculty member responsible for teaching programs in SRIHER-DU, Industrial consultancies as well as conduct state of art short term training programs in Occupational safety & Environmental Health. Biomarkers of exposure and early biological effect afford enormous opportunities to refine exposure-response estimates and add strength to the mechanistic evidence pool for epidemiological studies in India but, few such capacities exist within environmental health research groups. Currently, department involve biomarker research projects and serving as part of the team and established multi-metal analysis by using human biomonitoring  technique and developing risk assessment model.

As part of safety and health program, conduct regular safety inspections of worksites to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with regulatory training requirements for laboratory and chemical safety, including MSDS/GHS, safety warning signs, flammable liquids, and other fire hazards in laboratories and proactively address any issues and prevent accidents or injuries in our own premises.

I have earned an additional post-graduation degree in Sociology from Annamalai University. The field of public health has a rich history rooted in social reform movements and systematic working relationships between social science and public health. Current developments in the health field emphasize the importance of social factors in the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of illness and disease for public health workers.
