Dr Akila has been working as an assistant professor in the department of Community Medicine at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, Chennai, India for the past 9 years . She graduated her M.B.B.S from Mahatma Gandhi medical college and research institute, Pondicherry University in year 2010 under full scholarship and her post-graduation in MD Community Medicine from M.S Ramaiah medical college, Bangalore, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in 2015. She also did her fellowship in Advancement in Public Health from UC Berkely, California, USA in 2019. As an Assistant Professor, her work encompasses of teaching both under graduate medical and post graduate community medicine students on topics such as epidemiology, biostatistics, preventive medicine, health policy, and community health. She guides and mentors students in research projects, clinical rotations, and career development in the field of community medicine and public health. She also serves as a medical officer at Rural and urban training center and provide clinical supervision and guidance to medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals in community health settings. She has publications in Pubmed and Scopus indexed journals with impact factor. She also some funded projects which she is working on.
