Dr. Suvarna Jyothi Kantipudi is a psychiatrist with significant experience in clinical practice, teaching, and research. She earned her MBBS from Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, and completed her DPM and MD in Psychiatry at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore. Additionally, she holds an MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of California, Berkeley. Kantipudi started her career as an Assistant Professor at CMC, Vellore, from 2014 to 2017. She then joined the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research in Chennai, where she is currently a Professor. Her research focuses on serious mental disorders, cognition in elderly, cardiovascular risk management in schizophrenia, cognitive training for schizophrenia, and women mental health.
Dr. Kantipudi has been involved in several research projects funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the University of California-Global Health Institute. She has authored over 45 articles in peer reviewed national and international journals. She currently serves as an Academic Editor in PLOS Global health and as a peer reviewer for many international reputed journals. Her work has been recognized with awards including the Indian Psychiatric Society Travel Fellowship, Royal College of Psychiatrists LMIC psychiatrist award, and the Early Career Psychiatrist Award from the World Association of Social Psychiatry. She has also received research fellowships from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of California, Berkeley. Kantipudi is a member of professional organizations including the World Psychiatric Association, Alzheimer’s Association International Society, and Schizophrenia International Research Society.
