Bio

I am Dr. R. Lakshmi Sudaram, an Associate Professor (Research) at the Faculty of Pharmacy,in Sri ramachandra Institute of Higher education and Research (DU); specializing in the discovery and development of new drugs and therapeutic targets for non-communicable diseases. My research explores various developmental pathways and their interactions, with a focus on the myocardial infarction, hypoxia, and conditions such as diabetes, and inflammation in various therapeutic areas with strict Compliance with GLP guidelines .

Dr. R. Lakshmi Sudaram, working as an Associate Professor (Research)  during my tenure, I rendered my services to both academia and bio-pharma companies like Pfizer, Life-cell, etc. I also handle core papers for M.Pharm., and MSc. classes in the faculty of clinical research and support UG,PG, and Ph.D. academic students and research fellows in various research scholars at SRIHER and elsewhere in analytical techniques such as NMR, HPLC, HPTLC, IR, LCMS, and GCMS, thereby allowing them to complete their project work. I published 34 patents (9 Granted) and 66 research papers during the indicated period in both national and international journals. I also presented my research findings at various scientific conferences and won four best paper awards. Other notable awards include the Young Scientist Award, Outstanding Researcher Award, and Merit Award (for two publications). Overall, I have research experience in various fields that include Bio-analytical, drug discovery, clinical, toxicology, and pharmacy.

Currently, my research involves a Phase 1 clinical trial evaluating A Fast-dispersing thin film  containing ascorbic acid. This outpatient trial was conducted with 25 smokers. The study is based on the   hypothesis that nicotine, which metabolizes into the oxidized metabolite cotinine, may contribute to severe health conditions such as cancer. We propose that reducing cotinine back to nicotine using ascorbic acid, a suitable reducing agent, could offer potential therapeutic benefits. For this study, 25 volunteers, including both smokers and non-smokers, were screened and recruited.
