Prof. P. M. VENKATASAI M.B.B.S., D.M.R.D., Dip.N.B. (Radiodiagnosis) Ph.D., F.I.C.R.[Fellow of Indian College of Radiology and Imaging] is the Senior consultant, Professor, Former Head of clinical services and Head of Department of Radiology and imaging sciences (Centre of Excellence in Radiology and Imaging sciences)at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRIHER), Porur, Chennai – 600 116, Tamil Nadu, India. A graduate of Madras University and Post Graduate of Madurai-Kamaraj University, his radiology residency was done at Government Erskine Hospital, Madurai and Diplomat in National Board from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), Chennai. He has been conferred the Fellowship of the Indian College of Radiology (FICR) in the year 2004 for his excellent contributions in the field of academic Radiology by Indian College of Radiology and Imaging (ICRI).
He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in “QUANTITATIVE ULTRASOUND TISSUE CHARACTERISATION IN AND AROUND THE SHOULDER JOINT WITH THE GRAY LEVEL BRIGHTNESS MODE HISTOGRAM VALUES” in 2007 from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), Chennai. Dr. P.M.V. Sai has lectured at numerous national and international venues as well as at many of the leading academic medical centers in India and Abroad.He had observership training in “High Risk Obstetric Ultrasound” in Brigham Women’s Hospital, Boston, USA in 2003 And in “ Musculoskeletal Ultrasound” in Henry Ford Hospital , Detroit, USA in 2006. He had Global “Hands-On Musculoskeletal MRI & Ultrasound Mini Fellowship Course” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 2024.
He has rich teaching and research work experience. “BEST TEACHER AWARD” is conferred for his exemplary contribution in the field of medical education on the occasion of teacher’s day (05.09.2012) by the prestigious The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University. BEST RADIOLOGY TEACHER AWARD was awarded to Dr.P.M.Venkata Sai by Express Enclave Medical Imaging award 2019 in New Delhi. He has been awarded and honored as a Great Teacher & Mentor by Indian Radiological & Imaging Association(IRIA) during Teachers Day 2021 celebration on 5th September 2021 and an amazing teacher and provided nurturing space and established healthy boundaries in the field of Radiology. He has delivered Dr.Hema Venkatesan Endowment oration-IMA Chennai Kodambakkam-2015, Prof.R. Mahadevan Endowment Oration– IMA Chennai Kodambakkam-2019, Institute Day oration-BARNARD INSTITUTE OF RADIOLOGY– 2018, Dr. Diwan Chand Agarwal oration in Indian Radiological imaging association (IRIA) in 2013 and Dr. Mihir Mitter Memorial oration in Indian College of Radiological Association (ICRI) in 2018. Prof. Arthur Daniel Memorial Oration – Present and Future of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in 72nd Annual State conference of Tamilnadu & Pondicherry chapter of IRIA on 14.12.2019.He has conducted more than sixty six live workshops and hands on training inGeneral,musculoskeletal,and obstetric ultrasound in India and abroad. More than 77 original research papers has been published in reputed journals. One of his original work on “Role of Ultrasonography in Dengue Fever” and “Early detection of Median nerve abnormalities in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome using High Resolution Ultrasonography on par with gold standard Nerve Conduction Test: Evidence Based Study” was well accepted by the Radiologists, international Physicians and same has been published in British Journal Of Radiology. He held the post of the President of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Chennai- Kodambakkam branch 2009 – 2010 and President of T amilnadu and Pondicherry chapter of Indian Radiological Imaging Association (IRIA) 2015 – 2016. BEST RESEARCHER AWARD 2019 is conferred for his contribution in Radiology by International Organization Of Scientific Research and Development (IOSRD). The prestigious “BHARAT RATNA Dr.RADHAKRISHNAN GOLD MEDAL AWARD” was awarded to Prof.P.M.V.Sai by Global economic progress& Research Association (GEPRA) in 2019. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD 2019 was awarded to Dr.P.M.Venkata Sai in IMA– Tamilnadu state branch IMA Doctor`s day awards function 12 th July 2019.
“ PROF.P.M.VENKATA SAI RADIOLOGY GOLD MEDAL” Instituted by the Department of Radiology SRMC &RI ,SRIHER from 2022 for the “BEST OUTGOING STUDENT” Obtaining highest rank in university examinations of MD RADIODIAGOSIS on 19 th September 2022.
75 th State TN &PY Chapter IRIA Conference – CITATION AWARD – “TEACHING EXCELLENCE AWARD” Awarded for his excellent contribution in teaching Radiology on 17th December 2022 at Chennai.
