Dr Ramesh completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the year 2005 and Master of Science in Nursing in 2008 from Sri Ramachandra College of Nursing, Sri Ramachandra University, Porur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing at Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Nursing, SRIHER (DU), Porur, Chennai.
He is a recipient of Dr Jayalakshmi Jambunathan Gold Medal for the best outgoing student in M.Sc. Medical Surgical Nursing from Sri Ramachandra University. He received Dr TMA Pai scholarship in the year 2013 from Manipal University to pursue a full-time PhD in the faculty of nursing and completed his PhD in September 2017. He recieved the Distinguished Alumni Award from Sri Ramachandra University in September 2019 and Dr. T.M.A Pai gold medal for outstanding research publication from Manipal University, Manipal in the year 2020.
He is a core committee Member of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, NIRF Coordinator of the Institutional Innovation Council, a Member of the Health Professions Education Committee, secretary of the Faculty Quality Cell of Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Nursing. He is also the expert member of Publications Guidelines and Monitoring Committee of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University). He is a recognized PhD Research Supervisor at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research and Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal.
He have filed copyrights and holding five extramural projects as Principal Investigator and Co Investigator funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi and the Department of Health Research (DHR), Minsitry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. Till date, he has published 48 research articles in various national and international journals. He serves as a resource person for various national workshops and conferences across the country. He serves as a peer reviewer for more than 20 national and international journals including reputed journals like Journal of Clinical Nursing, Journal of Advanced Nursing, and Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice. He have completed more than 150 peer reviews till date.
The Technical Resource Centre (TRC) is funded by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India under Centre for Evidence for Guidelines for Evidence Synthesis. The TRC will conduct systematic reviews/meta-analysis pertaining to the identified review questions (PICOs) and assess the quality of evidence using GRADE tool. The evidence generated through the systematic reviews and meta-analysis will be integrated into national guidelines by the Guideline Development Group in DHR.
Prehypertension during young adulthood is common and associated with subsequent coronary atherosclerosis. The prevalence of prehypertension as reported by previous studies ranges from as low as 13.9% to as high as 67% in young adults. Identifying high-risk groups of prehypertension in young adults is beneficial for early and effective interventions and treatments to reduce the occurrence of future hypertension and organ damage. The objective of the study is to contribute to achievement of the SDG Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being. The other objectives of the study are to assess the prevalence of prehypertension among young adults and to find the impact of mHealth intervention on adherence to lifestyle practices, knowledge on prehypertension and blood pressure among the subjects in experimental and control group. The study is funded by Indian Council of Medical Research for three years from February 2023 – January 2027
Cardiac rehabilitation is cost-effective, evidence based, program of specific patient, psychosocial support, exercise training and risk factor assessment and management for patients with heart disease that reduces death rate. Hybrid cardiac rehabilitation is one of the best economical models which powerfully impact the control of cardiac risk factors reducing complications, improving patient’s quality of health, enhancement of exercise capacity, and commitment to treatment. The outcomes of this study to contribute to achievement of the SDG Goal 3. This study is attempted to determine the effectiveness of Hybrid Cardiac Rehabilitation on Psychological distress, Sense of Coherence and Quality of Life among patients undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) surgery. The long-term focus is to identify whether Cardiac Rehabilitation effective in secondary prevention of cardiac events. This study is funded by ICMR, New Delhi in the Senior Research Fellowship. The study is funded by Indian Council of Medical Research for three years from February 2021 – January 2024.
