Bio

Dr. S. S. Sabarish, MD, DM, FRCR, is a Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist at Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai. He specializes in the diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of brain, spine, and vascular disorders using advanced endovascular and neuroimaging techniques. His clinical expertise includes acute ischemic stroke thrombectomy, intracranial and extracranial stenting, aneurysm coiling and flow diversion, and embolization of dural arteriovenous fistulas, along with the management of complex and rare pediatric neurovascular conditions.

With a strong academic foundation and international qualifications including the FRCR (UK), Dr. Sabarish has independently led and co-led a wide spectrum of high-end neurointerventional procedures. He is actively engaged in research focusing on stroke outcomes, innovative endovascular devices. He has presented his work at national and international conferences and is committed to training and mentoring the next generation of specialists in neuroradiology and intervention. His vision is to advance neurointervention through innovation, academic excellence, and evidence-based practice, while ensuring compassionate, patient-centered treatment for those affected by complex neurological diseases.

Resting-State fMRI in Intracranial Dural Arteriovenous Fistula

Exploring the role of resting-state functional MRI in characterizing cerebral hemodynamics and venous drainage patterns in patients with intracranial dural AV fistulas.

Prospective Registry for Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients (PRAAN)

Part of the national multicentric registry evaluating acute ischemic stroke patients treated with neurothrombectomy devices in India, focusing on procedural efficacy and patient outcomes.

Dr. Sabarish has received multiple national and international awards in the field of neuroradiology and medicine. He was the Winner of the ABCNR-ISNR Neuroradiology Quiz (CMC Vellore, 2019) and the Grand Jeopardy Quiz (New Delhi, 2018), both earning him the prestigious RSNA travel sponsorship of 1500 USD and an invitation for fellowship training in Interventional Neuroradiology. He also secured the Second Prize in the ABCNR Grand Quiz (Mumbai, 2017).

In addition, he has been recognized for his academic contributions with the Best Poster Award at the STAR Neuroradiology Conference (Pune, 2017), and as the Winner of the STAR Neuroradiology Quiz (Pune, 2017). He also received the Best Poster Award at BILIVE CME on Hepato-Biliary Interventions (Pondicherry, 2017).

During his medical training, Dr. Sabarish was awarded a Gold Medal in Paediatrics along with a Certificate of Merit in General Medicine, highlighting his consistent academic excellence from undergraduate through superspecialty training.
