Dr. Karthiga Arumugam is a highly qualified nutritionist with expertise in Clinical Nutrition, particularly in renal nutrition. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Nutrition with a focus on pediatric nephrology from Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute in Chennai. Additionally, she holds a master’s degree in clinical nutrition and a bachelor’s in nutrition, Food Service Management, and Dietetics.
Dr. Karthiga has gained considerable experience through various research projects, focusing on topics like the impact of omega-3 fatty acids on hemodialysis patients and the development of nutrition interventions for children with renal diseases. She has guided several research projects on diverse topics, such as the effects of diet quality on emotional intelligence, caffeine intake patterns, and antioxidant-rich snacks for cancer patients.
Her career has seen notable roles in both academia and patient care. As a lecturer at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, she has been involved in teaching postgraduate students, guiding research, and delivering guest lectures on public health nutrition, renal nutrition, and scientific writing. She also has experience working as a consulting nutritionist, providing care to patients with various conditions, including diabetes, pediatric nutrition, and critical care.
Dr. Karthiga’s contributions to the field include publications, presentations at national and international conferences, and reviews of research papers. Her work has earned her multiple awards, including recognition as the Best Outgoing Student and Best Clinical Practice awardee during her academic career. Furthermore, she is actively involved in professional organizations like the Indian Dietetic Association and has served as a guide at Indira Gandhi National Open University.
