Krupa Venkatraman, Ph.D.
An academician and researcher with a profound commitment to advancing the field of speech-language pathology. Since April 2022, she has been serving as an Assistant Professor at the Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (SRFASLP), SRIHER, Porur, Chennai. Her previous role as Director at Sriram Speech and Hearing Clinic Pvt Ltd, Chennai, from 2012 to March 2022, provided me with extensive clinical experience and expertise in the field.
Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary-Linguistics from Annamalai University, completed in 2022, with research titled “Narrative abilities of Tamil-speaking children – A neurolinguistic study,” which explored uncharted territories in language development and contributed novel insights to the field. At SRFASLP, she has led multiple research projects. Notably, I have authored and co-authored publications, including:
– A comparative analysis of narrative abilities in Tamil-speaking children with cochlear implants and typical hearing, published in Cochlear Implants International (Q1).
– An examination of story-grammar development in children with cochlear implants, published in BMJ Open (Q1).
– A study on the development of narratives in Tamil-speaking preschool children, published in Heliyon (Q1).
She has authored book chapter on “Research on synaesthesia in children with autism, published in Autism Spectrum Disorders – Recent Advances and New Perspectives”.
Her other significant research includes a study on the effect of visual schedules on personal narratives in children with visual hypersensitivity, published in Arimaa Nokku, and a comparison of narrative microstructures in children with autism and their typically developing peers, published in the Journal of Modern Thamizh Research.
She has been a resource person at various conferences, sharing my expertise and fostering a deeper understanding of speech-language pathology. Additionally, she has guided dissertation projects, including research on feeding development checklists, qualitative study on the impact of screen time on feeding practices, narrative microstructure in children with ASD, and AAC in inclusive education.

Staff coordinator for speech-language pathology in the comprehensive cleft care team and the Dental College SRIHER. The project aims to provide Cleft care management to the rural community, namely Kanchipuram, Thiruvannamalai, and Cuddalore.
2006-Received a Certificate of Merit for securing the highest mark in Basic Acoustics and Electronics and Introduction to Audiology.
2007- Awarded as the Best Student Clinician in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Received Certificates of Merit for securing the highest marks in II-year B.A.S.L.P, Articulation and Phonological Disorders, Diagnostic Audiology, Otorhinolaryngology, and Community Oriented Professional Practices
2008 -Certificate of Merit for securing the highest marks in III-year B.A.S.L.P and in Noise Measurement and Hearing Conservation. 4. 2009-Received the “Muthayammal Memorial Gold Medal” for securing the highest marks in B.A.S.L.P.
2019 – Completed M.A. (Linguistics) program with First Class.
2022, February- Awarded Ph.D. at Annamalai University for research titled “Narrative abilities of Tamil-speaking children- A neurolinguistic study.”

Awarded Certificate of apprecitation on Science day celebration in SRIHER in 2024 for ‘Q1’ publication.
Awarded appreciation for merting extramural research grant titled ” Community based model of comprehensive cleft care- phase 6″ from Transforming faces for a total value of 39.85 Lakhs in the year 2023.
