Dr Santhi Silambanan, with the designation of Professor in the Department of Biochemistry is working at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Porur, Chennai 600116 since the year 1999. She graduated MBBS from Chengalpattu Medical College, MD (Biochemistry) from Madras Medical College and DNB (Biochemistry) from National Board of Examinations. She has 25 years of teaching, and research experience. She joined as Assistant Professor, with further experience got elevated to head of the Department of Biochemistry. At present she is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry. She has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical and paramedical students. She has more than 25 projects which are either completed or ongoing projects. She has more than 100 publications to her credit in local, national as well as international journals. She has been a guide as well as research advisory committee member for many PhD scholars. She has been doctoral committee member for PhD scholars in other universities. She is member of Board of Studies for Optometry at SRIHER. She also has been member of Board of Studies for MBBS, MD and MSc at Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal for the third consecutive year. Also, she has the experience of working in NABL accredited Sri Ramachandra Laboratory Services. She is also empanelled by NABL as Technical Assessor in Clinical Biochemistry. In Department of Medical Education, she is a member as well as in charge of journal club. She has been a NMC observer during the revised Basic Course Workshop conducted in the medical colleges which come under SRMC & RI, regional centre of NMC.
