Dr. P. Kruthika is currently working in the Department of Microbiology, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai. She completed her MBBS from Sri Devaraj Medical College, Kolar (2011), MD in Microbiology from SSIMS & RC, Davangere (2015), a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Neuroinfections at NIMHANS (2017), and DNB in Microbiology (2024). She also holds a certificate in Hospital Infection Control from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai.
She began her academic career at Navodaya Medical College, Raichur (2015), later served as a Senior Resident at NIMHANS (2017–2020), and worked as Assistant Professor at Chettinad Hospital & Research Institute (2021–2023) before joining SRMC. With over 7 years of teaching and diagnostic experience, she is actively engaged in academics and clinical microbiology services
Her PG dissertation on Candida species in nosocomial urinary tract infections received ICMR funding. She has 8 publications in reputed national and international journals, covering topics such as nosocomial infections, neurocysticercosis, tuberculous meningitis, HIV co-infections, antimicrobial resistance, and occupational health. She has also contributed a book chapter on Cryptococcosis of the CNS and holds two copyrights for novel COVID-19–related evaluation tools.
In addition to research, Dr. Kruthika has organized academic events, delivered guest lectures, presented at national and international conferences, and participated in several workshops and faculty development programs, contributing significantly to teaching, research, and professional service.
