His doctoral dissertation focused on Superficial Fungal Infections in HIV/AIDS Patients. He has further led and co-investigated projects such as molecular epidemiological studies of diarrhogenic E. coli in collaboration with Anna Biotechnology, Chennai. Dr. Sridharan is an approved PhD supervisor and has guided scholars on research themes ranging from chlamydial infections, neonatal sepsis, biomarkers to the role of oral microbiome and antimicrobial resistance. Several of his PhD scholars have successfully completed their research under his mentorship.
He has published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, with over 40 research papers, case reports, and reviews to his credit. His works span a wide range of topics including: Antimicrobial resistance, Chlamydial infections in infertility, Mycobacterium and fungal infections, Hospital-acquired infections surveillance, neonatal sepsis, Diagnostic innovations for bacterial and viral diseases, Oral microbiome and so on
Dr. Sridharan’s professional achievements combine patient safety, infection control, and biosafety. His long-standing contributions as Safety Officer, biosafety committees, and CME observer for TNMC underscore his commitment to sustainable medical practices and quality assurance in health care.
He has also been actively involved in policy-making and academic governance at SRMC & RI and SRIHER, serving in Internal Quality Assurance Cell, and several interdisciplinary committees that ensure institutional excellence.
Dr. K. S. Sridharan’s career reflects a rare integration of clinical microbiology, institutional safety, research in infectious diseases, and academic mentorship. His contributions have advanced both diagnostic microbiology, institutional health systems and facility safety making him a significant figure in the field of medical microbiology and laboratory medicine.
