COVID 19 is highly contagious acute respiratory infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus -2 (SARS-CoV-2) created a major outbreak affecting many countries worldwide. The World Health Organization(WHO) declared that CoVID-19 is a “Public-health Emergency of International concern” on 30 January 2020.Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC) recommends the use of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) in standard and transmission-based infection control precautions. Healthcare professionals(HCP) who have been involved in treating patients with COVID 19 are at a great risk of contracting the disease and therefore required to wear a protective gear. The use of PPE is associated with high incidence of adverse reactions such as Heat, dehydration, pressure sores, headaches, inability to go to washroom , infections in Respiratory tract, urinary tract Etc. It has been notified that un-reporting of Adverse reactions still exists. The objective of this study is to Evaluate the Prevalence of Adverse reactions in Health Care Professionals using Personal Protective Equipment during this COVID – 19 using Pre-validated questionnaires.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is an ensemble of metabolic disorder that reached pandemic dimensions globally. The multifactorial pathology makes patient management with lifestyle modification and prolonged drug therapy extremely challenging. There is a growing evidence on the efficacy of the use of medicinal plants for diabetes. Previous studies demonstrated better antihyperglycemic activity both in preclinical and clinical studies but it has been hurdled by its low bioavailability. To curtail this limitation microcurcumin has been used in this study to demonstrate its antidiabetic potency. This study aimed to evaluate the antidiabetic activity of microcurcumin through molecular docking studies and compare the antidiabetic activity of Curcumin and Microcurcumin in Diabetes induced Zebrafish model.
Of all the professions, healthcare professionals, IT workers, finance professionals and retail workers are most prone to burnout. Among healthcare workers, doctors and nurses in particular often suffer from burnout due to high workloads and long working hours. Medical professionals in the departments of surgery, oncology, emergency medicine, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology are more likely to experience numerical burnout due to the demand for longer hours in their areas of expertise. Burnout is now receiving increasing attention worldwide as it is mainly focused on certain workplace stressors and the environmental pressures that drastically affect the physical and mental health of workers. Studies and surveys have been conducted to find out the causes of burnout and/or certain environmental stimuli. This study aims to evaluate the prevalence of burnout in physicians, Post Graduate medical students and nurses in tertiary healthcare centre in Tamil Nadu.
Medication errors, particularly those associated with Look-Alike Sound-Alike (LASA) drugs, are a significant threat to patient safety. Defined as “a failure in the treatment process that leads to, or has the potential to lead to, harm to the patient,” these errors often arise from confusion caused by similar drug names or appearances. Despite advances in healthcare, LASA drugs continue to pose risks due to healthcare professionals’ limited awareness of these errors. Understanding the knowledge gaps surrounding LASA drugs among interns, postgraduates, pharmacists, and doctors in a tertiary care setting is essential to improving patient safety. Addressing these gaps will help develop targeted educational interventions to mitigate the risk of medication errors. This study aims to assess Baseline Awareness and evaluate the prevalence of knowledge gaps regarding LASA drugs among interns, postgraduates, pharmacists, and doctors at Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai.
