Dr. B. S. Meenakshi is currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMCRI). She completed her undergraduate medical education (MBBS) from Government Thanjavur Medical College, Tamil Nadu, in 2015, followed by her postgraduate training in Physiology (MD) at Government Chengalpattu Medical College, Tamil Nadu, in 2022. Her research interests span neurophysiology, cardiometabolic health, and medical education, with a focus on understanding physiological alterations in occupational and disease-related conditions. As part of her thesis, she conducted an original study titled “Assessment of auditory function using PTA and BAEP in ambulance workers”.
She has actively contributed to scientific forums through presentations and publications. Her poster presentation on “Comparative study of depression among obese and non-obese individuals” and paper presentation on “Impact of comorbidities on COVID-19 patients” reflect her interest in lifestyle and pandemic-related health challenges. She has also contributed to e-journal publications, including “A study on platelet lymphocyte ratio in COVID-19 patients in a tertiary care centre”. Her published works include “Comparison of 6% and 8% sevoflurane for inhalational induction” (Global Journal of Research Analysis, August 2022) and “Comparative study of depression among obese and non-obese individuals” (National Journal of Physiology, September 2021).
Dr. Meenakshi has demonstrated academic excellence, securing prizes at national and regional conferences. She was runner-up in the PG Quiz Competition at Lemecon 2018, won third prize in poster presentation at Obecon 2018, second prize in pedagogy competition at Ignite 2019, and second prize in paper presentation at Obesita 2021. She has also completed specialized training, including a workshop on research methodology (CHMC 2022), Mendeley software (Refine 2018), and online certification in Biomedical and Clinical Research (BCBR 2020, with 84%).
Through her teaching, research, and clinical training, Dr. Meenakshi continues to contribute to medical education and applied physiology
