Mrs. V. Jenanee is an accomplished Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Sriher, known for her dedication to both teaching and groundbreaking research. She has undertaken impactful projects, including the exploration of silver nanoparticles for cancer therapy, where her work focuses on utilizing nanotechnology to develop targeted, effective treatments with minimal side effects. Additionally, her in vivo research on urolithiasis delves into novel approaches for treating kidney stones, examining therapeutic compounds and interventions that could improve patient outcomes. A committed mentor, Mrs. Jenanee is passionate about guiding students in academics and research, inspiring the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists.
Cancer remains a major health challenge, with current treatments facing limitations like drug resistance and side effects. Natural products, including compounds like picrocrocin from saffron, offer potential as new anticancer agents. Picrocrocin has shown preliminary anticancer activity, but its effectiveness and selectivity for cancer cells over normal cells are not well understood.
This study aims to evaluate picrocrocin’s efficacy across various cancer cell lines and assess its selectivity. By identifying which cancers are most responsive, the research could lead to targeted therapies with fewer side effects. The findings could also inspire further exploration of natural products in cancer treatment, addressing a critical global health need.
Mrs. V. Jenanee has been awarded the GATE Intramural Research Grant for Young Faculty of ₹1 lakh for the year 2024
