Dr. Ananth. S.,
Qualifications: BSc, MPhil (SN – BITS), PhD (UK) Optometry.
Dr. Ananth is a Seasoned Optometrist with over 25 years of experience in academic, clinical and research setting. He has excelled in his career in various capacities in the United Kingdom, Malaysia and India in higher educational management and ophthalmic service industry.
He is presently working as Associate Professor of Optometry in Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research (formerly SRMC), Chennai.
Dr. Ananth is an alumni of Sankara Nethralaya (Elite School of Optometry) affiliated to Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, where he pursued his under-graduation & post-graduation in Optometry. He completed his Doctoral degree from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2005 and post-doctoral fellowship from the same university.
Dr. Ananth was instrumental in the establishing the first hospital-based optometry degree program in Malaysia at The Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital. He was the Founding HOD and subsequently the Academic Director of the institution.
Dr. Ananth has played many different roles in the eye-care community in Malaysia as an active member of: Head of Optometry Programs Council, Malaysian Optical Council, Drafting the guidelines on Approval and Accreditation of Optometry and Opticianry programmes and Optometry Way forward Committee under Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.
He was the recipient of the prestigious Fellowship of World Council of Optometry (WCO 2010).
He is also an active researcher and has published several research papers in peer review journals.
