I have completed my MBBS as part of the 2014 batch from Trivandrum, Kerala, and subsequently undertook a one-year internship at General Hospital, Ernakulam, Kerala. Driven by an interest in microbiology, I pursued an M.D. in Microbiology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, joining the 2021-2022 batch. During the postgraduate program I did my dissertation in the field of mycology and subsequently developed an interest in fungal diagnostics and opportunistic mycoses. Having a keen interest in diagnostics, research and teaching, I rejoined the Department of Microbiology at SRMC & RI as a Senior Resident in March, 2025.
A project on the fungus, Trichosporon species, to identify isolates with high minimum inhibitory concentration to azoles from clinical samples. This was done by performing antifungal susceptibility tests with conventional and newer azoles after phenotypic and genotypic confirmation of the organism. Isolates with high MIC to azoles were sequenced and checked for ERG11 gene mutation.
