Dr. Dilara is passionate about disseminating the concepts of human physiology to medical, dental and paramedical undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses through her contribution to program specific curricular development and implementation. She has gained immense recognition in the field of medical education, both in faculty and curriculum development at the national level. She was a member of the national CBME curricular committee for physiology and had played a valuable role in the development of an outcome based, value added and contextual PG curriculum in alignment with the current medical needs. She is the Co-convener – Advance Course in Medical Education (ACME), SRMC Nodal Centre and offers high level training in medical education & research for colleges under the Nodal Centre. She takes a keen interest in introducing innovative teaching learning methods for the both undergraduates & postgraduates. COGNIZ 2024 the MBBS quiz on CNS & Special Senses, Mono acting competition for MBBS on “Sleep Disorders” in commemoration of World Sleep Day 2024 and RIPPLES 2024 (Ramachandra Integrated Physiology Postgraduate LEcture Series) that enhanced higher order learning among postgraduates are some of the  students centric, novel educational strategies organized by her. The annual Alumni academic event in 2024 was conducted as a CME  “A Physiologist day out” in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Dr. Arthur C. Guyton – the first event of its kind.

As the Head of the Department she believes in team work and collaboration for academic success. She has reviewed and streamlined the curricula of various courses offered by the department for better faculty compliance and a positive work environment. She sincerely believes in aligning the physiology curriculum and teaching to the outcomes of every course and strives for the same.

  • Self funded, Principal Investigator Dr. S Ramalakshmi, Postgraduate – MD Physiology. Quasi experimental study that investigates the effect of aquarium therapy on Heart Rate Variability (HRV), SpO2, Respiratory Rate & Blood Pressure among healthy individuals aged 35 to 45 years.

Effect of Rubik's cube on visuo-motor skills among geriatric population

  • Self funded, principal investigator Ms. Nachiyar, Postgraduate M.Sc Physiology. Quasi-experimental study that investigates the gross motor and fine motor skills among geriatric population above 60 years of age.

Evaluation of Hypocholesterolemic Activity of Nigella Sativa Seeds in Cholesterol Biosynthesis in Male Sprague Dawley Rats

  • Self funded, principal investigator Mrs. Uma Maheswari, Ph.D Scholar. Experimental study to evaluate the Hypocholesterolemic Activity of Nigella Sativa Seeds in Cholesterol Biosynthesis, gene expression and enzyme inhibition in male Sprague Dawley rats, and to explore the molecular interactions between Nigella Sativa Phytochemicals and cholesterol – related proteins

Effectiveness of Blended Learning as an Instructional Model for continuing Professional Development Educational Programs for nurses

  • Interventional study conducted at Hamad Medical International, Doha. Nurses will be exposed to blended learning modules and the learning outcomes will be evaluated.
