Bio

Dr. Satish Srinivas is a senior clinical oncologist and a keen academician actively involved in radiation research. He graduated from the prestigious Madras Medical college in 1998 and also completed his Post Graduate Medical Education (Master’s degree in Radiation Oncology) from the famous Barnard Institute of Oncology attached to the same institute in 2002. Subsequently he underwent Senior Residency in Radiation Oncology at JIPMER Pondicherry from 2002 to 2005. Since then he has been actively involved in clinical and research work in radiation Oncology. As on date he has successfully treated more than 10,000 cancer patients in his career (youngest patient – 9 months old and oldest patient 101 years of age). He has a keen interest in radiation research with core focus on Radio Genomics and Radiation biomarkers in Head and Neck cancer. A good teacher and speaker he has given many invited lectures and participated as invited faculty in several educational institutions and academic forums. He has clinical experience in various modern day RT techniques such as 3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT , TBI and HDR Brachytherapy.

Current designation – Professor and founder Head Dept of Radiation Oncology at SRIHER. Helped to establish a state-of-the-art RT center at SRMC which started clinical treatment from Jan 2017.The Dept is equipped with modern day Digital Linac VERSA fitted with the 160 leaf MLC Agility and USG image guidance system Clarity first of its kind in South India. The department offers MDRT PG program (with NMC recognition) and Bsc RTT program (under AHS – approved by AERB) . Dr. Satish Srinivas received training in IGRT, Rapid Arc and Gated Radiotherapy in Madam Curie Cancer Center Poland in 2013 and also received training in Cyberknife and Prostate Seed Implant Brachytherapy at CBCC Cancer Center Bakersfield, California in September 2014. He is a Phd Guide, Co-guide and RAC member at SRIHER and member of the following committees at SRIHER –

He was the founder Head of the Dept of Radiotherapy at SVIMS Tirupati (Aug 2005 – June 2008). Drafted a project proposal and received a financial grant for Rs 3 crores from the Union Ministry of Health and Family welfare under NCCP for setting up the first Radiation Oncology center in Rayalaseema Region. Was also instrumental in getting a grant of Rs 3 crores from the TTD for the same department in 2007.

He also served as Senior Consultant (initially as Assistant Professor and subsequently as Associate Professor in the Dept of Radiation Oncology at Cancer Institute Adyar. Chennai from 2008 to 2012 where he was involved in PG training and research.

In addition he also has the following credits –

  2. Member of Technical Committee for Radiotherapy equipment and faculty selection at JIPMER Pondicherry
  3. Convener of practical exams for DNB in Radiation Oncology
  4. External expert in Radiation Oncology for Gujarat and Telangana Public Service Commission.

Thrust area of research include – Radiation biodosimetry, Radio Genomics and Radiation resistance, Radiation biomarkers as a prognostic tool, Targeted therapy in Head and Neck cancer, Radiation wound management,

Has 46 scientific publications as on date as primary author, corresponding author and co-author in various international and national journals of repute. (most of these publications are in high impact international journals indexed in Scopus and PubMed database. Has more than 330 research citations. with h index of 10 and i10 index of 10. Involved as CO P1 in research projects with extra mural funding by government agencies such as ICMR, AERB, SERB, BRNS and SPARC. Patent in process for 2 of the projects.
