Biotechnology is by and large the most divergent of focal areas in the Biomedical cluster. Investigators in this group work in areas from Plant Tissue Culture, marine small molecules as cancer drug targets, genomics-proteomics, medical probiotics for specific bacterial infections, in silico modeling and repurposing of drugs for Mycobacterium, phytopharmaceuticals to studies on the role of oral pathogenic bacteria in cancer progression. In addition, patents have been granted for nano diagnosis of Banana Bunchy top virus and marine compounds from snails.
