Two PhD scholars from the Department of Biotechnology at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai, have won second prize at The Rencontres de Quy Nhon VII: International Biology Conference 2024, held in Vietnam from October 2nd to 4th, 2024.
Ms. Kiruthika Vijayakumar got the second prize for her presentation, “Association of Fusobacterium nucleatum with Breast Cancer Progression and Virulence Factor Profiling in South Indian Patients.” This study sheds light on the significant role of Fusobacterium nucleatum in breast cancer progression. The first prize in this category was awarded to Nguyen Hue Tuyet, My Duc Phu Nhuan Hospital, HCMC, Vietnam.
Ms. Adeline Celina R. got second prize for her poster presentation, “Investigation of Bacillus strain WS2 from Marine Water for Use as Probiotics,” where she showcased the research of identifying Bacillus strain WS2 as a potent antimicrobial probiotic agent against multi-drug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae. The first prize in this category went to Nguyen Khanh Linh of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), Vietnam.
