MOCK FIRE DRILL AT SRI RAMACHANDRA MEDICAL CENTRE

A mock fire rescue demonstration drill was conducted by the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre today.  

The programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Seema Agarwal, Director General of Fire and Rescue Services, Govt. Tamil Nadu. Mr. Sathya Narayanan, Deputy Director (North) supervised the programme. 

During the demonstration, a simulated fire accident was created on the fifth floor of the hospital building. The fire was put out using modern fire engines and water hoses. Fire fighters demonstrated the rescue operation using various methods like sky lift, manual ladder, three/four handed seat, baby carrying, spine board stretcher, blanket lift, fire man lift. Fire & Safety officers explained how to control various types of fire, safe evacuation of patients and staff during fire emergencies.

Students, faculty members, and the general public were given practical demonstrations on how to use various fire extinguishers, methods to prevent fire accidents and how to quickly inform the fire department in case of emergencies using helpline number 112. 

Dr. Mahesh Vakamudi, Chief Operating Officer & Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mr. S. Mahadevan, Deputy General Manager, Mr. R. Kumar, Manager, Safety and Mr. C. Manoharan, Manager, Fire & Safety along with nursing staff participated in the event.
