World-renowned neurosurgeon blends ancient wisdom with modern advances at SRIHER

The Department of Neurosurgery at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research organised Founder Chancellor Sri. NPV Ramasamy Udayar Endowment Oration in Neurosciences today. The oration was on ‘Medicine and Neurosurgery through the Prism of Apoorva Chintamani’ delivered by Dr. Anil Nanda, Professor of Neurosurgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Speaking on the occasion, world-renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Nanda recalled ancient insights with the latest technological advances in the field, urging young neurosurgeons to view patient care through historical and modern lens. He emphasized the importance of recognizing morbidity and complications resulting from medical treatments stressing that professionals must remain sensitive and open to the adverse effects of therapy and surgery. He highlighted the need for a robust scientific spirit to question strongly held dogmas, while calling for continuous technical skill refinement to achieve true mastery.
The event was graced by Dr. K. Sridhar, President of the Neurological Society of India and other eminent Neurosurgeons across the country. SRIHER Vice Chancellor Dr. Uma Sekar, Dean, Medical College Dr. Balaji Singh, Medical Director Dr. Sudagar Singh, Neurosurgery Professors Dr. K. Visvanathan, Dr. V. Vivek were present.
