Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) operates the Sri Ramachandra Hospital (SRH), a prominent tertiary care facility located in Porur, Chennai, India. The hospital has a capacity of 1,800 beds, making it one of the largest healthcare facilities in the region. 

SRH includes six fully equipped intensive care units and 23 state-of-the-art operating theatres. It also offers 24/7 services such as pharmacy, radiology, and laboratory facilities. The hospital caters to over 5,000 outpatients daily and admits approximately 200 to 250 inpatients. It emphasizes a patient-centered approach, providing free food and essential medications to inpatients. SRIHER integrates education and research with clinical practice, training more than 6,000 students across various health science disciplines, including medicine, nursing, Environmental science, sports and allied health sciences. 

The hospital features a full-fledged clinical trial division and a GLP-accredited small animal facility, supporting research in medical devices and diagnostics. SRH actively conducts health camps and provides free health check-ups to the community, demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility. The hospital includes various support services such as a drug and poison information centre, integrated counselling and testing centres, and a tuberculosis cell, enhancing its comprehensive care approach.

LAB Facilities

SRIIC laboratories are essential facilities that enable researchers, students, and entrepreneurs to conduct cutting-edge experiments and develop innovative solutions in various fields, including medicine, agriculture, and environmental science. These labs are equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and equipment necessary for performing a wide range of biotechnological techniques and analyses.

Apart from SRIIC, SRIHER boasts extensive laboratory facilities, primarily through its Central Laboratory, which is a vital component of the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre (SRMC).

The laboratory is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibrating Laboratories (NABL), ensuring high standards in testing and quality control.

GLP Accredited Animal Experimentation Facility

Animal House facility with 23,000 sq.ft spaces provides state-of-the art facilities for toxicology, genetic toxicology, pharmacology, behavioral, clinical & anatomic pathology evaluation.

CEFTE is an OECD GLP certified preclinical research organization (GLP/C-158/2021), functions as an independent unit of the SRIHER established in the year 2009 by the Board meeting of Management of Sri Ramachandra University, Porur, Chennai – 600116.. SRIHER is the First Medical University in India having Animal facility (CEFTE) certified for GLP compliance, GOI, New Delhi.

It is a CPCSEA, Government of India, registered (189/PO/ReRcBi/S//2000/ CPCSEA) small animal research facility. CEFTE brings together the toxicological and multidisciplinary pharmacological investigations of chemicals / drugs and also alternative to animal models so as to create skilled manpower through world-class education and training and to be involved in public-private partnerships and sponsor supportive programs.

Clinical Trials Facility

SRIHER facility provides Clinical trial and other research support services for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device industries, government institutions, foundations and universities. Interventional / Observational / Epidemiology Studies and Medical Device Testing are conducted in the facility as per the ICH GCP guidelines. The facility is frequently audited by DCGI and supported by the NABH accredited hospital infrastructure and NABL accredited laboratory services for clinical research. Studies are conducted in diverse medical fields including cardiology, pulmonology, oncology, surgery, endocrinology, reproductive medicine, psychiatry, etc.
