The research focus of our biomaterial laboratory around studying the designing the biomaterials for bone, cartilage and skin wounds governing cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation of stem cells. We are focussed in understanding the role of biomaterial vs cells vs extra cellular matrix interaction using 3D printed bio-scaffolds for orthopaedic applications. We are currently involved in the development of anti-diabetic drug loaded scaffolds for bone application, scaffolds using calcium-based composite to enhance cell proliferation and understanding the signalling pattern involved to preserve the phenotype of differentiated cells. Our lab also has electrospinning facility to develop nano-fibrous scaffold for skin large wound application.
