I am Basrah Bee Binte Shaik Hussain 5th year MBBS student from Uniersity of Muhammadiyah, Sumatra Utara (UMSU). I came to SRMC for an exchange program. I went through 3 clinical postings: ENT, General Medicine, and Pediatric Medicine.

The campus life here is very different that my experience in Indonesia. Hence, we start a day at 8am with lectures. Then proceed to our clinical postings (9am-12pm) then have lectures again (1-4pm). There is always something new to learn on every clinical posting. The first half we will takes histories from patients. Then the second half of the session we’ll learn how to perform physical exam and skills.

The lecturers here are very knowledge and experienced. We had a lot of hands on experience and saw many cases. SRMC is a great place to study. The dorm life is comfortable. We tried many different types of food around campus. We look forward to traveling and exploring Chennai during the weekends.

Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you SRMC, lectures, staff and friends for welcoming us. I will miss my time here. I’ll cherish every memory I made. I’ll look forward to any chance I have to visit SRMC again, one fine day in the future.

Hello, I’m Firya Nadine, Indonesia student. I’m a third year of MBBS in university of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU). I came to SRMC on 26th January 2023 starting my short term course for 2 months.

It such a big experience for me to study in SRMC. We found a lot kind and sweet lecturers here. They taught me a lot and very details. My first experiences went to the ward on both hospital (udayar & G block). I learnt a lot, having experiences to go to operation theater saw some surgery (hypospadias,cirumation, hydrocele) on pediatric urology department. I’ve been to many departments in SRMC such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, biochemistry, microbiology. Everything was meant to me.

Having a clinical posting on 2 hospitals (udayar & G block) in 5 department pediatric urology, pediatric nephrology, neurology and our last posting in community medicine.

I went to the section hall, at my new experience to watch a cadaver. We knew the basic procedure also. Everything we learnt a lot for the hospital. Big thanks to this program and this university SRMC.

Hello! I’m Refika Salsabila one of the MBBS student from Indonesia, which is exactly at university of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) in Medan. I’m a third year of MBBS student who selected to go to SRMC for approximately 3 months. I’m going tell you about my experience in SRMC for the last 3 months here.

SRMC in my first impression is a big university and clean. I really surprised and amazed at the same time by seeing 2 hospitals in the same area. It is really nice. At the first day we got here, we came to the hostel which is ladies hostel-2 for MBBS students. It is more than expected, each people get their own room with the AC and fan, 1 window, 1 table for study, 1 bed. This more than enough for me.

The regulation of the hostel was really nice too. They have people to clean the room every day, the change the bed sheet once a week. Which really feel nice be experience that for washing clothes, they have a laundry storing which is near the hostel.

In the morning we went to the class, and meet the lecturers. All of the lecturers were very nice and kind. At first, I’m afraid about the English accent here which is very fast. But, all of the lectures understand about this and they will talk slower and clearer. They don’t mind to repeat all of the things that they taught if we weren’t understand.

We also have gone to each department, I was amazed by all of department with their museum especially anatomy museum, it is a very huge museum, with a lot of human organs which arrange neatly and beautifully.

The entire museum really amazed me, and I really want to visit it for a long time. It is a very nice experience to get a clinical posting here, which we won’t experience at the 3rd year in our university.

The MBBS student for our country need to be seven years, so that’s why we never experienced at clinical posting for the 3rd year student.

For the clinical posting is very nice, we went to operation theaters, seen a patients, doing rounds, talk to the patient and saw a lot of cases. For all of the rounds and it will be like, we will ask questions to the patient of the chief complaints and try being diagnose the patient. All of the doctor will be teaching as with question the activity with the doctor and patients.

My name is Cindy Oktavia, I’m 23 years old student. Currently I’m studying medicine. I came from Indonesia to SRMC through and exchange program by our government called “Kampus Medeka”.I arrived here 23rd January 2023 and will end on 28th march 2023. I love being here, the university is huge. I love it the college building is actually side by side with the hospital. The new thing as for me the theory is goes along with the clinical rotation. I never had a chance back there in Indonesia like that. The hostel is fine, they clean the room twice in a week and also you can request for it anytime.

The canteen is food, especially binge café, they had a lot of menu and it’s great. The classroom is really nice it’s clean and manages well. The students are really nice and friendly, even the lecturer also really nice. They thought us many things and I’m really glad. Thank you SRMC, see you the sometimes.
