International women’s day was observed at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research here today with an assembly of over 500 women faculty, students and staff in front of Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre with placards calling for protection and education of girl children, their education and empowerment, protection from diseases and atrocities. This rally was led by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Uma Sekar, the Registrar Prof.Roopa Nagarajan and Dean Research Dr. Kalpana Balakrishnan. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Uma Sekar said SRIHER is proud to have more women faculty and students than men and they are ncouraged, trained and empowered to assume higher responsibilities in healthcare and nation building.
